Neuroscience in a child's language

NeuroHope is not just a project. It's a belief that even a small act of kindness can awaken something extraordinary in a child's heart.

We go into boarding homes, hospitals and kindergartens and run games for memory, attention and motor skills, then explain, in plain words, what just happened inside the brain.

01 · About

Attention to a child's brain is care too

NeuroHope is a student initiative. We work with children who have developmental delays, children in boarding homes and state care, and children in long treatment.

Every session opens with games and ends with a gift. At first many are shy and quiet; by the end they laugh, ask questions and look at the world with brighter eyes.

  1. Children at Muruvvat children's home No. 1 with their gifts

    Step 1 · Who

We work with children's homes and special-care houses

Children with developmental delays, the Muruvvat children's homes, children on an oncology ward and specialised kindergartens: the places where attention runs shortest.

  2. Children working on a task with coloured pencils

Step 2 · What we do

    We design psychology games

Games for memory, attention, fine motor skills and movement. After each exercise we explain in plain words what just happened in the brain.

  3. Children and volunteers working together at a kindergarten in Kashkadarya

    Step 3 · Why

    We empower children through collaboration

The games are played together: children help each other and volunteers sit beside them. The child who was shy at the start is laughing and asking questions by the end.

02 · A session

How one session runs

The institution sets the day and the group; the team brings the rest.

  1. 01

We find the institution caring for the children

We contact a children's home, a specialised kindergarten or a hospital and agree a day and a group that suit the children.

A past example14 September 2026: Muruvvat children's home No. 2. The children played games that wake up cognitive skills.
  2. 02

We design cases around the children

We ask the institution about the children who live there and prepare exercises to match them: their age, abilities and interests.

Participants of the first session at Stars University
A past exampleOctober 2025: Stars University. For more than 20 children with developmental delays we prepared memory and fine-motor exercises with coloured pencils.
  3. 03

    We carry out the cases

Three or four coordinators work together, sitting with each child separately, explaining the game and talking with them. Nobody is left out.

Volunteers playing with children at tables in the Japanese Garden
A past example26 July 2026: the Japanese Garden. Thirteen children in the open air, a volunteer at every table.
  4. 04

    We bring the children gifts

At the end of the session we hand out gifts in the style of the game: coloured pencils after a drawing game, Lego after a building one.

Muruvvat Children's Boarding Home No. 2

On 14 September we spent a warm day with the children of Muruvvat children's home No. 2.

We played NeuroHope brain-activation games designed to wake up cognitive skills and creative energy. Before saying goodbye we gave gifts to help with their daily routine.

    Neuroscience before school

    Samarkand, kindergarten

On 22 November we held another neuroscience session for preschool children in Samarkand.

After every hands-on activity we explained what had just happened in their brains: how neurons send signals, how we sense the world, why we remember, how emotions shape us. The children experimented, asked questions and grasped through play ideas many people first meet at school or university.

The simplest ideas about the brain and nervous system came through play. The aim was less to teach than to spark curiosity, encourage questions, and show that science can be exciting from an early age.

Our ambassador organised a NeuroHope event in the Parkent district of Tashkent region: 32 children came to learn about the most incredible organ, the human brain.

Through experiments and interactive games they discovered how we think, feel and remember: how neurons send signals, and why emotions affect our decisions.

    Stars University

Our very first NeuroHope event took place at Stars University. More than twenty children with developmental delays joined us for simple but powerful exercises: all we needed were coloured markers, imagination and kindness.

We worked on memory and fine motor skills together. Some children were shy at first, others full of energy, but by the end every one of them smiled. We finished with small gifts and a group photo.

05 · Brain facts

#NeuroScience101

The team publishes science-backed facts about the brain in plain words. Press a card for the science behind it.

  • 01Catch an idea with a key

    The science

Right before sleep the brain drops its logical limits and creativity rises sharply.

    How to try it

Doze off holding a key: it drops and wakes you: write down the first thought. Edison and Dalí used exactly this trick.

  • 02Trick pain with a mirror

    The science

The brain judges pain partly by what the eyes can see.

    How to try it

Hide the injured hand and look at the healthy one's reflection: the brain lowers the pain signal.

  • 03Stop stress in fifteen seconds

    The science

Ice water on the face triggers the mammalian dive reflex: the vagus nerve fires and the heart slows.

    How to try it

When anxious, dip your face in ice water for fifteen seconds.

  • 04Sharpen focus with noise

    The science

Stochastic resonance: steady background noise filters out distracting neural signals.

    How to try it

Play white noise, such as rain or wind, while you work.

  • 05Santiago Ramón y Cajal

    The science

The 1906 Nobel laureate proved the nervous system is not one continuous net but a network of separate cells: neurons.

    How to try it

He also found that signals travel one way, from dendrites to the axon, and drew neurons by hand; those drawings are still in textbooks.
